Translations Tab

Let's say you want to update the custom labels on your survey landing pages to align with the company brand and messaging.

You can do this by utilizing the "Translations" tab within the Simple Survey Setup Wizard. Using this functionality, you can customize the landing page labels to display any text you want by "translating" the English into English.

To start, English must be enabled in the "Translation Language Settings" for "Translation Workbench" in Salesforce via Setup.

Once English is enabled, navigate to the "Translations" tab, and you'll see an option to add English to the list of translations. Click the purple add button to do that.

Please note: If a language is disabled in the Translation workbench, an “Inactive in Translation Workbench” text will appear. Translations can still be added for inactive languages, but they won’t go live until the language is activated.

To start customizing the landing page labels, click the download button to get a copy of the CSV file where the translations/customizations are done.

Custom labels should be manually added to the “Translation” column. For any labels you wish to keep as-is, leave the translation column blank.
 

Once all of the translations are updated, save the file onto your desktop (without changing the file name) and upload it back into the "Translations" tab of the Simple Survey Setup by clicking on “Click to Upload” or dragging the file to the English section.

Once uploaded, the date and time of the last upload will display. 

If you have new survey labels to translate or others still need to be updated, download the CSV file again to get the most recent version and update it with the desired labels. No need to translate all labels every time!

Once your translation CSV has been uploaded, you can test the survey to make sure all custom labels are working as expected. Within the English section, generate a test URL that will direct to the updated survey. Select a survey to test and a URL will automatically generate. The responses to these test surveys will be saved and marked as a test survey record. 

Please note: Picklist values still need to be translated via Translation Workbench. Please click here or navigate there by going to Setup | User Interface | Translation Workbench | Translate.  Please see below for instructions on updating picklist values, etc.

 

Manual Custom Label Translation 

If you prefer not to use our "Translations" option in the Simple Survey Setup, certain custom labels (like picklist values) can also be updated manually through the Translation Workbench. Follow the steps below.

• First, check to see if "Translation Workbench" is enabled in your org.
  • Navigate to Setup | User Interface | Translation Workbench | Translation Language Settings and enable the feature (if it is not already enabled)
• Navigate to Setup | User Interface | Translation Workbench | Translate. From here, you can follow the instructions for selecting your filter criteria.
  • In the screenshot below, I've navigated to Translate (1), updated my filter criteria (2), and selected the picklist value I'd like to tweak the wording of (by double-clicking the corresponding "Label Translation" box). All that's left to do is input the new value I want to be displayed.

 

• To override the default text in a custom label, create a new translation for the label and choose English as the language. Just as providing a translation of the text in another language will override the Custom Label, a local English translation will override the Custom Label whenever another language is not specified.

Labels Included: ​

• Sorry, an error occurred: Error displayed on the landing page if the content is not successfully loaded. This could include items such as the Site Guest User having insufficient access to records or a custom validation rule interfering.
• Thank you for your feedback! : Final Thank You displayed after the landing page questions have been submitted.
• Your rating has been successfully recorded as: Text that displays on the landing page above the score that the survey recipient submitted.
• Submit Updates: The button on the landing page that is used to submit answers to the additional questions.
• We have already received your survey. Thank you for participating. : Message displayed on the landing page when duplicate prevention is enabled and a survey recipient selects an initial score more than once.
• Thank You: Message displayed at the top of the landing page under your organization's logo.
