Google reCAPTCHA's switch from Data Controller to Data Processor

Simple Survey uses reCAPTCHA to prevent bots from creating or updating survey records. Google changed its role from Data Controller to Data Processor effective April 2026 to simplify compliance with global privacy regulations (such as GDPR and POPIA). Simple Survey has been updated accordingly with a new translation for non-english surveys.

In accordance with Google's instructions (here), starting in version 5.38 we have removed references to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Use and instead the footer contains "This site is protected by reCAPTCHA" or its translation if configured.

 

To translate this text, we supply a new label (lp_recaptcha_no_links). See Translating Surveys

 

Ensure your Privacy Policies or similar are updated accordingly and configured in the Privacy Disclaimer setting in Simple Survey Setup.
