1) Expiring Survey Programs:

Defining the expiration date on survey programs is done on a program-per-program basis in the "Configure Survey Object" tab when editing a program through Survey Builder. 

 

Organizations may have periodic surveys, such as end-of-year promotions or specific events like Dreamforce, where results are only relevant for a short amount of time after they end. Expiring surveys can be handy for these scenarios, as new survey responses can be prevented from coming in if a survey program has expired.

 

Look for the "Program Expiration" setting and select the date and time the expiration should occur.

The 'Enable Prevent Additional Responses' setting in the 'Optional Settings' tab of the setup wizard controls whether new responses should be accepted for expired surveys.

 

2) Deactivating Survey Programs:

Deactivating programs prevents them from appearing in the builder as an active survey program that can be used in the Org. To deactivate a survey, navigate to the Survey Builder, and from the "Select Existing" tab, select the survey you'd like to deactivate. Then, click the drop-down menu and select "Deactivate".

 

This will move the surveys from the list of active surveys to the list of inactive surveys, which can be accessed by selecting the ‘Inactive Surveys’ option from the drop-down menu.


If you are using the packaged Simple Survey Flows to pre-create survey records and automatically send survey emails, deactivating the program will prevent the records from being pre-created and, subsequently, the emails from being automatically sent. 

 

If you are using a custom, local Flow to send survey emails, please ensure that it is deactivated to prevent sending.

 

Please keep in mind that if a person who was sent that survey in the past (before the expiration date) has not yet responded to it, but does so today, you would still see responses coming in, even though the survey program is no longer active. Simple Survey cannot control when people actually respond to surveys from their mail inbox.

If a survey program that is currently inactive needs to be marked active again, select the survey from the list of inactive surveys, click the drop-down menu, and click "Activate".
