INSUFFICIENT ACCESS or READ_ONLY error received in Case Split

Due to sharing and security restrictions on case comments, when the User selects a comment that was NOT created by them during a Case Split, an INSUFFICIENT ACCESS or READ_ONLY error displays.

Symptoms
When a User tries to split a case with a comment they did not create, they still receive an INSUFFICIENT ACCESS or READ_ONLY error.

Solutions

Return to the Case Split Setup Wizard and enable the "Bypass Sharing and Security for Case Comment Updates" option under Additional Settings.  This will allow Users to select comments they did not create while splitting a case.

 

Starting in version 3.17, a new "Bypass Sharing and Security on Related Records" setting (as seen above) was added to Case Split to open up access to related records during the split operation. Enabling this setting may assist with errors similar to those above, but keep in mind that this may not be needed if the errors relate only to case comments.
