Duplicate Tracking provided a mechanism for keeping track of the number of duplicate cases that entered your Salesforce Org. This information was stored in the packaged Duplicate Group and Duplicate Case objects, which could then be used for reporting purposes.

While this data was helpful in understanding how large your organization's duplicate problem was, the data was not actionable.
Vicasso recommends using one or more of the following options in place of Duplicate Tracking.

Duplicate Case Utility Bar

The Duplicate Case Utility Bar included in version 3.97 and newer provides the means to both view and merge cases across your Org from a centralized location. Separate from Duplicate Tracking, this feature allows you to not only know how many duplicates exist but merge them as well.

This new component can be tailored to your organization, with multiple options for views based on owner, date range, and other properties.

Usage Metrics Report

For understanding which duplicates have already been resolved through merging, please refer to the Case Merge Premium – Usage Metrics report.

Each time a merge is performed, the 'Merged By' & 'Merged Date/Time' fields will be populated on all child cases involved. The child cases with these fields populated will subsequently filter into this report, providing a better understanding of how often cases are being merged along with which users are typically merging.

Potential Duplicate Records & Reporting

In newer versions, a new object called Potential Duplicates was added to track Duplicates that are:

• Merged
• Dismissed
• Merged via Automerge
• Detected or Indicated via Automerge

Separate from Duplicate Tracking, the data for this object is collected primarily to track Duplicate Criteria performance and store child case data in the event an unmerge is required.

Consider creating a report similar to the following, grouping by Parent Case to see the number of duplicate cases that have entered the system.

Reminder: Reports that previously utilized Duplicate Group and Duplicate Case report types will no longer be included in new versions of Case Merge Premium. These reports should also no longer be referenced after upgrading to version 5.0, as Duplicate Group and Duplicate Case records will no longer be created. Organizations that download Case Merge Premium for the first time after version 5.0 will not have these objects or reports available in the package.

In version 5.27, the following reports were removed:

• Duplicates by Month - Post Install
• Duplicates by Month - Pre Install
• Groups w/ Cases to Merge

In version 5.27, the following reports were added to Case Merge Premium:

• Automerged Cases
• Cases Detected for Automerge this Month
• Cases Unmerged by User This Month
