Title
File Slayer Component (Lightning)
Published Body

Admins can add the component to the record page for Cases, Contacts, Accounts, and other standard or custom objects where duplicate or useless files might be present. The end user will use the component to find and remove unwanted images and duplicate files from the record.

First, end users on the team will slay unwanted images by clicking “Remove (and add to Hit List).” Slaying prevents future instances of the same image (matched by checksum, not the file's name) from being added to Salesforce. By slaying the social media icon file or logo image, future copies of that file (like in the signature of every message from that client!) will be automatically removed from the record. And when one person slays the image, the rest of the team benefits.

However, people can click on the ‘Keep’ option to keep the image with the record.

End users can distinguish between duplicate images and files (such as PDFs) within the component. When end users toggle the switch in the top right corner to the “All Files” option, the File Slayer component displays duplicate files for the current record. Please note that the file would not show in the File Slayer component if only one instance existed. Only duplicate files are surfaced in the component.

End users can click the “Remove Duplicates (Keep Original)” option to ensure only one instance of the file remains in the record. If they choose the “Keep All” option, all duplicates stay on the record.

Once images and files have been slayed, they remain in the Salesforce Recycle Bin for 15 days. You can recover files by expanding the Recover Files section and clicking the “Recover” button.

Notes:

  • The File Slayer Lightning Component specifically supports the Salesforce Files object. Records saved as Attachments will not be accessible here.
  • Attachments are only accessible through the Hit List Manager, and the file size limit is capped at 100 KB.
  • File Slayer supports the following image file extensions: BMP, DIB, GIF, JFIF, JPE, JPEG, JPG, PNG, TGA, TIF, TIFF, and WEBP.
  • For all other file extensions, File Slayer will look for additional supported file types (excluding image files).
  • The component displays only duplicate files. If there is only one instance of a PDF, for example, the PDF will not be displayed.
