Process Existing Salesforce Emails via Email to Case Premium
Title
Process Existing Salesforce Emails via Email to Case Premium
Description

This feature request proposes a mechanism to allow Salesforce Administrators to process EmailMessage records that already exist within Salesforce through the Email to Case Premium (E2CP) engine. Currently, E2CP processes emails only as they arrive via the Email Service Address. This creates a gap for scenarios where emails are captured in Salesforce (via Outlook integration, Einstein Activity Capture, or standard Email-to-Case).

The primary driver for this feature is the inability to "replay" an email transaction. If a team is migrating from a shared inbox or from standard E2C to E2CP, the only current workaround is to manually forward the old emails into the E2CP routing address. This workaround is destructive: it resets the "Received Date" to the current time (ruining SLA reporting) and changes the "From" address to the person forwarding the email (breaking automatic Contact association).

Additionally, this could be used during testing/training in a sandbox for populating case data from sample email messages without needing to alter any existing email server setups. This could also be used to resolve problems as a result of an outage or error condition where email messages have been captured by Salesforce but not processed by Email to Case Premium.

  1. I could see this helpful in situations where a customer finds they're still forwarding emails through standard E2C vs Email to Case Premium. While they're fixing their mail server configuration, any emails already processed could have a second chance to run through Email to Case Premium (creating case comments and respecting all of the other inboud features).
