You are creating a new survey through the Survey Builder and encounter the following error: Aborted. An error occurred while saving survey configuration.

Simple Survey utilizes a custom object called Survey Configuration to store settings configured within the Survey Builder. You may encounter a lengthy "Loading Fields" spinner on Step 1 or the above-mentioned error on Step 2 if your profile does not have full access to specific fields on the Survey Configuration object.

To extend sufficient access, start by navigating to Setup | Manage Users | Profiles, and select your profile. The following steps will vary by the user interface you have enabled in Salesforce.

Standard Profile User Interface:

1. Navigate to the section titled Field-Level Security > Custom Field-Level Security > click View next to Survey Configuration.
2. Click Edit at the top of the screen, ensure that full access is extended for all fields and click Save.

Enhanced Profile User Interface:

1. Select Object settings and click on the Survey Configurations object.
2. Click Edit at the top of the screen, ensure that full access is extended for all fields and click Save.
