Using Change Case Ownership Plus with Dynamic Forms

With the introduction of Dynamic Forms in the Spring ‘23 Salesforce Release (https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=release-notes.rn_lab_dynamic_form_enhancements.htm&release=242&type=5), there is an impact on how Change Case Ownership Plus is used and/or configured. Change Owner Field

Since version 2.54 and following, Change Case Ownership Plus relies exclusively on a Visualforce Page that can be added to the Case Page Layout via the Case Object in Salesforce. 

 

 

If you had installed Change Case Ownership Plus prior to versions 2.54, you may still have access to the deprecated Change Owner formula field. This field will be available on Lighting Pages after upgrading to Dynamic Forms. However, as a best practice, Vicasso recommends installing the latest version of Change Case Ownership Plus to ensure all bugs are resolved, and the newest features are available. Our support team will only be able to help troubleshoot the latest version of Change Case Ownership Plus; upgrading will be the first step of the troubleshooting process.

 

 

For organizations that already have Change Case Ownership Plus installed and choose NOT to migrate to Dynamic Forms, relying on the Case Page Layouts, Change Case Ownership Plus will remain functional with no impact on how it’s configured and used today. No further action is needed.

 

If your organization is migrating to Dynamic Forms, Change Case Ownership Plus WILL NOT be available to be added to the page layout via Lightning App Builder, since it looks exclusively for fields and not Visualforce Pages. As mentioned above, the old formula field has been deprecated on newer package versions. If you would still like the functionality of Change Case Ownership Plus, you can use the Change Case Ownership Plus Lightning Action in place of changing the owner within the field. More information on the Lightning Action can be found below.

 

If your organization is NOT migrating to Dynamic Forms but wants to configure record pages directly from the Lightning App Builder, Change Case Ownership Plus will still be available for use with a mixed environment of Lightning App Builder page + Case Page Layout. Follow the steps below:

 
  1. Use the “Field Section” component in the Lightning App Builder alongside the Standard Details View.
  2. Adjust your Classic Page layout to only include a sub-section of fields, including the Change Case Ownership Plus Visualforce Page. 
  3. Using the Lightning App Builder, use the Field Section to customize which fields display on the page. 
Change Owner Quick Action

Change Case Ownership Plus comes packaged with one Lightning Action and one Classic Quick Action. The Classic Quick Action should only be used within classic page layouts and will function as expected, as Dynamic Forms is only a Lightning Feature. If the Classic Quick Action is put onto a Lightning Page Layout, the button will not change the owner of the case. The Quick Action within the Page layout is named Case.ChangeCaseOwner__Change_Case_Ownership.

For the Lightning Action, Dynamic Actions will need to be enabled to ensure the functionality of Change Case Ownership Plus. If Dynamic Actions is not enabled, the Change Owner button will not be shown on the page layout. The Lightning action is named Case.ChangeCaseOwner__Change_Case_Ownership_Lightning.
