This tab lets you configure general survey program settings, including object, expiration, and duplicate settings, as well as the option to rename your program.
Program Name:
Lists the current name of the Survey Program and allows you to rename it by clicking the pencil icon.
Once clicked, a modal opens, prompting for the new name. Update the name and then click "Rename Survey".
Survey From Object:
The Salesforce object (standard or custom) that this survey program is sent from. Simple Survey uses this selection to build the survey link's URL parameters and to generate the Flow that creates survey records, so each response can be tied back to the correct Account, Contact, and source record.
This depends on a lookup relationship existing between the Survey object and the selected object; that relationship is what captures the Account, Contact, Case (or other object), and Owner at send time. If the relationship doesn't exist yet but Salesforce supports creating one, the Survey Builder will prompt you to create it. If Salesforce doesn't support a lookup relationship to that object at all, no relationship can be created, and the object cannot be used as a Survey From Object.
Current known exceptions are: Campaign Member, Task, and Event.
Program Expiration:
Organizations may conduct periodic surveys, such as end-of-year promotions or specific events like Dreamforce, where results are only relevant for a short time after the event. Expiring surveys come in handy for these scenarios, as they can be configured to expire automatically after a specific date and time, preventing the creation of new Simple Survey records in Salesforce.
Note: Once an expired program becomes inactive, it will need to be manually activated again for future use. Then, make sure to set a new expiration date for the future.
If you want to continue accepting new responses, make sure the "Prevent New Responses on Inactive Survey Programs" setting is deactivated in Simple Survey Setup.
With that setting on, a message appears on the landing page to users saying "Sorry, the survey you are trying to take is no longer active.", and new responses are no longer recorded.
A Flow named "Survey Expiration Flow" is packaged to expire survey programs, deactivate the email template, and mark it as inactive in the builder. If by any chance the Flow is unable to deactivate the email template, a message will appear in the program tile in the "Inactive Surveys" menu in the builder, letting users know that they need to manually deactivate the survey and make sure it's no longer used in any active Email Alerts used on local automation that sends the surveys out to respondents.
Allow Duplicates:
This setting does not apply to pre-created programs, only ones that create records on click.
It allows you to define a time range where identical survey records submitted by the same contact, related to the same record, are treated as duplicates. When this is configured to prevent duplicates, respondents get a message on the landing page saying ‘We have already received your survey. Thank you for participating.’ if they have already submitted the survey.

If you are pre-creating programs, please use the Survey Fatigue setting to avoid oversurveying your respondents. While Survey Fatigue does not stop the creation of pre-existing surveys, it does prevent a survey email from being sent if an allotted amount of time has not passed since the recipient last received a survey.
