In scenarios where users require access to Simple Survey Insights but should be restricted from the Survey Builder or Setup Wizard, the packaged permission sets may fall short. The "Simple Survey Administrator" permission set opens too much access, and the "Simple Survey Read-Only" permission set does not give enough access.

The solution is to create a custom permission set with only access to Insights. The easiest way to begin is to clone the "Simple Survey Read-Only" permission set and then add Insights access to it.

To begin, navigate to Setup | Users | Permission Sets. From here, find "Simple Survey Read-Only" and click "Clone".

Provide a label and appropriate description. For example:

• Label: Simple Survey Read-Only + Insights Access
• Description: Provides access to all components required to view surveys, including access to the Simple Survey Insights Object, to view, create, and delete their own Insights view.

Once created, click into your new permission set to view it. From here, navigate to Object Settings | Simple Survey Insights | and click "Edit."

Ensure the "Tab Settings" is set to available and visible.

Then, ensure you enable the following, corresponding with how much access you'd like to provide the user:

• Read - needed for them to view Insights
• Create & Edit - needed for a user to save their own Insights
• Delete - needed if you'd like the user to be able to delete their own Insights. They would not be able to delete other users' Insights.
• View All Records - needed if you'd like the user to be able to see Insights created by other users.
• Modify All Records - needed to allow users the ability to delete or edit Insights created by other users. This is not recommended.

You will also want to give "Read" access to all relevant fields listed under Field Permissions.

Click "Save" at the top of the page.

Once this is complete, navigate back to "Object Settings" and find the "Simple Survey Question Configurations" object and click "Edit". You only need to provide "Read" access on this object. Then, click "Save."

Lastly, navigate to "Apex Class Access" and click "Edit".  Find the simplesurvey.InsightController and grant access to it. Then, click "Save."

Now that your custom permission set has been created and configured, you can assign it to the necessary users. From the permission sets page, click "Manage Assignments" and then "Add Assignment".
