1) User: Create a user as pictured, or similarly. User License = Salesforce Integration, Profile = Minimum Access - API Only Integrations (principle of least privilege), email suffix of .invalid (so Salesforce does not attempt to send notifications to this address and start an email loop) 

 

2) Permission Set License: Assign "Salesforce API Integration"

 

3a) Permission Set: Create a new. We recommend label (E2CP Context User) and API Name (E2CP_Context_User).

Save and Assign it to the User created earlier.

 

3b) For the Case object, enable Read, Create, Edit, View All, and Modify All. Enable any applicable Record Types. Save.

 

3c) For the Contact object, enable Read and View All (for lookup). For Auto-Create Contacts, enable Create, and if applicable, a Record Type. Save.

 

3d) If your Organization uses Email to Case Premium with Leads, enable the Read and View All (for lookup). For Auto-Create Leads, enable Create and if applicable, a Record Type.

 

3e) For future support of inline images in Timeline, enable "Create Content Deliveries" in System Permissions.

 

4) If you have Record Types, the profile (Minimum Access - API Only Integrations) must be updated to specify a default Record Type on objects created by E2CP. Go to User Management Settings and temporarily disable Enhanced Profile Interface in order to set default record types. (See more information on this limitation here, and upvote the idea.)
